Accomplished chef Stefano Zanini showcases his considerable talent in the evocative setting of the Rocca di Lonato. His recently opened establishment occupies the spaces of the former apartment of the librarian to Senator Ugo da Como, to whom the Foundation owes its name: a luminous and carefully appointed room, almost a veranda-like dining space suspended above the gardens, where history and elegance converse in natural harmony. The kitchen presents creative Italian cuisine, consistently well-presented and guided by a refined hand. The sea bass, rapidly cooked on the skin side and finished with a sauce of anchovy essence and extra virgin olive oil, accompanied by seasonal vegetables interpreted with intelligence, is particularly convincing; the pigeon too merits attention. At lunch, in addition to the à la carte menu, a lighter formula is available.
