The coastline to the east of Genoa has more character and ruggedness than the Riviera di Ponente: sharp promontories jutting out into the sea, small coves sheltered from the winds where tiny fishing ports nestle, large bright bays, cliffs, pine and olive woods occupying the hills inland make up the charm of this landscape.
