The German Alpine Road extends from Lake Constance to the outskirts of Salzburg, taking in the foothills of the Allgäu and the Bavarian Alps, as well as the mountains of Zugspitze (2 962m) and Watzmann (2 712m). The route combines the splendours of mountain scenery with visits to famous monuments such as the Wieskirche and the castles of Ludwig II of Bavaria near Füssen. The only difficulty is in deciding where to stop!
