This splendid Grand Strand State Park boasts a 4.8km-long, completely unspoilt beach. Visit the Nature Center with exhibits, activities and maps of the park, then hike the trails and walkways that overlook the marshes, home to nearly 300 species of birds, or follow the guide. Atalaya Castle, the Moorish-style former residence of the founders of Brookgreen Gardens, is also worth seeing.
