With a sleek black interior and white countertop, Sushi Mai is a six-seater sushi restaurant helmed by Chef Yoo Oh-kyun, an alumnus of The Shilla Seoul’s Ariake. From the start, the space grabs your attention with its modern touches, such as the digital screen that adorns the wall behind the counter and the upbeat music that welcomes you. Seasonality and a play on textures are everything to Yoo, known for using local fish you won’t see often in other restaurants, like the spiny red gurnard, ricefish, and burbot (eelpout). With such limited seating, reservations are a must.
