On the other side of the Rhône, opposite Avignon and the Palais des Papes, the small town of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, too, has its fair share of monuments… and Le Prieuré is one of them. This old cloister is an exceptionally charming setting in which to enjoy creative cuisine made with first-rate ingredients. The surf and turf combinations are sometimes adventurous (pigeon with Camargue oysters, for example, or bluefin tuna and beef) but they strike just the right note and make for extremely intense flavours (lobster tail tempura with squid ink and raspberry, satay and bisque sauces).
